Fortify Science
Bringing genuine open access to research publication, Fortify Science is a decentralised and rigorously peer-reviewed modern publisher.
All papers are completely free to access and publish, and are processed under the control of scientists, not publishers.
How it works:
- Manuscript Submission and Scope. Fortify Science covers bioscience with a broad scope from biochemistry and molecular biology to biodiversity and ecology, as well as applied fields such as pharmacology and veterinary sciences. Manuscripts are submitted for review on the Fortify Science website.
- The Review Process. Each paper is reviewed by four reviewers, rather than the usual two, with the requirement to satisfy three of the reviewers for publication. Rather than editorial involvement, the process is overseen by a facilitator whom takes no role in the decision-making process. The rigorous but rapid review process can be expected to take place within three weeks. Peer reviewers are selected from a distinguished network of over 250 scientists, and the credentials but not identities of reviewers are shared with authors.
- Publication. Following acceptance by Fortify Science, the author(s) are permitted to publish the paper on an approved online platform such as ResearchGate. Papers are also hosted on this website, at a URL fortifyscience.com/____-__-__-____ where these are typically YYYY-MM-DD-Surname (of first author). Using this, review information and verification of the paper as an accepted Fortify Science publication can be obtained publicly with the further extension /review. The review process is double blind.
